One of our recommended plants, they look great planted in bold swathes with other shade-loving plants in a sheltered, shady woodland edge, shrub or mixed border. The finely cut, fresh green arching fronds of this deciduous lady fern are sometimes borne on reddish-brown stems.
Location: full or partial shade.
Soil Type: damp, fertile, neutral to acid soil.
Growth Rate: average.
Plant Hardiness: fully hardy.
Plant Care: Incorporate lots of well-rotted leaf mould, composted pine needles or garden compost into the planting hole. In cold places in late fall protect the crown of the plant with a dry mulch of straw or bracken.
