A particularly compact wide range, it makes a perfect pot plant for a shady, sheltered patio or courtyard garden with damp, fertile, neutral to acid soil. The slender, tapering, classical green fronds of this deciduous lady fern are said to resemble homemade lace or 'tatting' - hence one of its common names.
